'97 S-10 with ZQ8 package. I sort of miss it. It was okay for what I used it for back then. Before the 'extreme' version and its associated do-nothing ground effects, the ZQ8 package offered stiff and surprisingly capable and grippy suspension, camaro 16" wheels and tires, 'detroit locker' rear diff. flip out sideways 3rd seat. 3rd door. I had a nice tonneau cover on the back and I actually created some short rain gutter sections out of scrap metal using a sheet metal brake so i could mount my old Yakima mounts and crossbars from my previous Volvo and clamp down skiis or snowboards above the tonneau, leaving all the room for bags and backpacks and what not for those trips to more fun places.

The picture looks very nice. this was just after the big clean up and detail. There were a few paint places that were not rescuable on the other side and there was some body rust starting. not rot just rust. It had 75,000 miles on it and just went through its intake gasket, the A/C pulley clutch was making that death rattle and it had a weird electric smell whenever i turned left and I couldn't find out where it came from at all. I thought it was the other cars around me. It ran fine but it was just not built as well as I would have liked. After all I did go from a Volvo 242 into this at 15,000 miles.

It looked very good when clean and not on the snow steels. I miss that. It rode nice when it had a sandbag in the back and pulled well and sounded wicked with the K&N full intake kit installed on that 4.3. This was actually the most reliable version you could order the S-10 in according to Consumer reports. a 2wd, auto 4.3, huh. Apparently that's true only if you don't live and drive in the northeast like I did.

Wow you only get 75k miles out of it?! That's obscene! My first two trucks were S10 Blazers. One was a 2 door from 88 and one was a 4 door from 2004.

The 88 was a monster due to extensive modification of the 4.3L. In the pic below is the 88 and the 04, only pic together.

Well, it was a totally northeast Buffalo area car. The salt and corrosion and 2-4 days in between drives didn't help it much. Home to airport, sit in lot for a while, airport to home. run errands. repeat. by 75k miles there were those problems starting and I did not want to spend the money to fix them. It shouldn't have had those problems. Besides we did need a mom+kid vehicle with some space so I tried to sell it but no one was willing to pay for what it was worth and it wound up being traded in on a RAV4. I wanted to roll with headers and a full exhaust with that intake but never got around to it by the time it started to go down hill.

Gotcha, yea that sucks how quick it got hit hard. The blue one was a monster, thought it never looked like much.

bored 60 over, ported heads, roller rockers, exhaust.

I ripped those tires all over the place. Aerodynamics be damned!
